Gerindra Denies Hotman's Claim: President Prabowo Never Intervened in Legal Matters

The Chairman of the Gerindra Party’s Central Leadership Council (DPP), Bambang Haryadi, has asserted that President Prabowo Subianto has never intervened in legal matters. Bambang stated that Prabowo upholds the fairest possible law enforcement.

Bambang’s statement was a rebuttal to claims made by Febrie Adriansyah’s lawyer, Hotman Paris. Hotman had previously invoked the President’s name in the case involving the former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus).

“Gerindra regrets Hotman Paris’s statement linking the case of the former Jampidsus to President Prabowo. This is completely untrue and contradicts President Prabowo’s commitment to eradicating corruption,” Bambang said on Sunday, 19 July 2026.

The Secretary of the Gerindra Faction in the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) highlighted law enforcement under Prabowo’s era, which he described as impartial. Bambang pointed to several of Prabowo’s aides who have been arrested in connection with legal cases.

“In every party activity, Prabowo always reminds us that he will not protect cadres who commit disgraceful acts or corruption. This has been proven; several regional heads affiliated with Gerindra who violated the law have still been processed legally,” he said.

“In fact, a member of the cabinet, a deputy minister, has also been processed legally,” he added.

Bambang then urged Hotman not to drag the President’s name into the defence of his client. “President Prabowo has never interfered in law enforcement,” he concluded.
