Gerindra confirms Prabowo and Gibran's relationship is complementary

The Gerindra Party has stressed that the relationship between President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka is mutually complementary, urging all parties not to dramatise their rapport. Gerindra Central Board Chairman Bambang Haryadi made the statement in response to the issue of Gibran’s seating position not being beside the President during a recent cabinet meeting. According to him, this was merely a technical necessity and the relationship between the two remains excellent. “Mr President Prabowo and Mr Vice President Gibran complement each other in their work. The two are always united,” Bambang said in Jakarta on Wednesday. He noted that Prabowo has consistently given Gibran room to work, citing the Vice President’s frequent regional tours to absorb public aspirations and inspect government programmes on the President’s behalf. “That is a tangible form of unity between the President and the Vice President,” he said. He therefore urged the public not to speculate excessively about the relationship between Prabowo and Gibran, affirming that the two complement each other in running the government. “There are parties who wish to divide their unity by framing provocative narratives. But we are confident the public will not be influenced,” said the Secretary of the Gerindra Faction in the House of Representatives. Prasetyo explained that the seating arrangement was related to the President’s need to deliver a presentation supported by extensive data and the use of a teleprompter during the session. “Because he wanted to explain a great many programmes, and if you noticed, those programmes also had to be supported by data. That is why he used a teleprompter as an aid. That answers the question regarding the layout,” Prasetyo stated at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Tuesday. “If you observed, the President was in the centre. If the question is about the Vice President’s position, we consider this to be purely a technical necessity,” he added.
