Gerindra Claims Nanik Sudaryati Deyang's Resignation from BGN Purely Due to Health Reasons
The Gerindra Party has stated that the resignation of Nanik Sudaryati Deyang as Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) was purely due to health reasons and unrelated to any other matters. “So there is no connection with other issues,” a party official said at the DPR complex in Jakarta on Wednesday, 22 July 2026. According to the official, Nanik S. Deyang wishes to concentrate on her treatment process and will undergo a phase of heart disease treatment abroad. He added that Nanik had reported her resignation decision to President Prabowo Subianto, including details of her illness and treatment plans. “That is why she reported to the president, to request a replacement so she can focus more on treatment,” said the politician from Commission II of the DPR. Earlier, Nanik Sudaryati Deyang announced her resignation as Head of BGN via her Facebook account, stating her reason was to focus on heart treatment. Nanik expressed gratitude for having assisted President Prabowo with the free nutritious meal programme after being his supporter for over a decade. “Having followed him for fourteen years, I know for certain that the MBG programme is not for political purposes as some have accused,” she wrote on Wednesday, 22 July 2026. President Prabowo Subianto has appointed Sudaryono as the new Head of BGN, replacing Nanik. Sudaryono, also a Gerindra Party cadre, previously served as Deputy Minister of Agriculture. Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi explained there were various considerations behind Sudaryono’s appointment, including his involvement with the free nutritious meal programme from its inception. Sudaryono is known as a figure who has long been within Prabowo’s inner circle. “He has been involved from the beginning, discussing, initiating, and conceptualising the technical implementation of the nutritious meals with us,” Prasetyo said at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, 22 July 2026. As an official at the Ministry of Agriculture, Sudaryono is also considered to have played a role in the programme’s operation, as the ministry is a crucial pillar in the raw material supply chain for the nutritious meals. “All this time, it has been supported and formed into one ecosystem by the Ministry of Agriculture, where Mr Sudaryono served,” said the Gerindra politician.
