Hotel Borobudur Jakarta, in partnership with Sanggar Budaya Lagoa and the Indonesian Comedy Artists Association (PASKI), held “Gerak Jakarta: Satu Langkah, Satu Rasa” in Jakarta on Sunday. Director of Marketing Communications at Hotel Borobudur Jakarta, Karina Eva Poetry, stated in a written release that through this event, the hotel and its partners hope to continue contributing to strengthening the arts and cultural ecosystem in Jakarta. Karina invited the public to welcome the 500th anniversary of Jakarta with a spirit of unity, creativity, and pride in Indonesia’s cultural diversity. She added that the Gerak Jakarta event serves as a platform to strengthen togetherness through Nusantara arts and culture, while encouraging the public to celebrate the diversity that forms Jakarta’s identity. This was realised through a traditional dance competition involving 50 participating groups, with total prizes worth millions of rupiah, trophies, and certificates, supported by the DKI Jakarta Culture Office and Bank Artha Graha International. Arifin Brata, General Chairman of Sanggar Budaya Lagoa, expressed hope that the event would become a collaborative space for art communities, cultural studios, and the younger generation to showcase creativity and foster pride in Indonesia’s cultural heritage amidst Jakarta’s development as a global city. Meanwhile, Mukhlas, Chairman of the DKI Jakarta branch of PASKI, explained that as a main agenda item, the traditional dance competition would bring together artists from various regions to display the richness of Nusantara culture through diverse dance performances. He said the competition is not only a stage for showcasing talent and creativity but also a concrete effort to support cultural preservation and introduce traditional values to the younger generation.
