Geothermal Exhibition Showcases Innovation to Support Energy Transition and Security
The 12th Indonesia International Geothermal Convention & Exhibition (IIGCE) 2026, themed ‘Energy Self-Sufficiency For a Stronger Indonesia: Geothermal as The Baseload Driving Energy Transition and Security’, will be held on 19–21 August 2026 at the Assembly Hall, Jakarta Convention Center (JCC). As a prelude, the Geothermal Fun Walk & Run 2026 was held on Sunday, 9 August.
As the world’s largest geothermal convention and exhibition, IIGCE 2026 is scheduled to be opened by President Prabowo Subianto, alongside key ministers and regulators including Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Roeslani, and Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni.
The Indonesian Geothermal Association (INAGA), in collaboration with On Us Asia, successfully organised the Geothermal Fun Walk & Run 2026 at the Energy Building in the SCBD area of Jakarta on Sunday morning. This supporting event served as a consolidation platform and a symbol of strong synergy among sponsors and geothermal industry stakeholders ahead of the main convention.
The event attracted around 600 participants, including executives from geothermal development companies, business partners, strategic sponsors, geothermal communities, running communities, influencers, and government representatives. Participants enthusiastically took on two route options traversing the capital’s main thoroughfares: a 5K Fun Walk and a 10K Peloton Run.
INAGA Chairman Julfi Hadi emphasised that the stamina and positive energy of the entire industry ecosystem are crucial foundations before moving into strategic discussions on the national energy transition. ‘The acceleration of geothermal energy development depends not only on technological sophistication and funding, but also on the solidarity of the stakeholders who drive it. Before we discuss crucial issues and energy policies at the IIGCE convention mid-month, today we unite our steps and strengthen collaboration in the field in a healthy and enjoyable way,’ said Hadi.
Echoing this sentiment, Geothermal Fun Walk & Run 2026 Organising Committee Chairman Chandra A. Salim expressed appreciation for the high enthusiasm and active participation of attendees and sponsors who made the opening event a success. ‘We are very grateful and proud to see the extraordinary energy and enthusiasm from all participants today. This activity was designed not only as a sporting event, but as a space for camaraderie that binds the entire geothermal ecosystem,’ Salim stated after welcoming runners at the finish line.
After crossing the finish line, participants were greeted with lively entertainment hosted by MC duo Melanie Putria and Julvyanno Nanda, complemented by a musical performance from guest star Moluccan Soul. The event’s climax was further enlivened by the distribution of grand door prizes, including an ALVA N3 Next Gen electric motorcycle, a Samsung Galaxy S25FE smartphone, a Xiaomi HIMO C20 electric bicycle, precious metals, and dozens of other prizes worth tens of millions of rupiah.
The international convention will also bring together global industry leaders and practitioners, such as Brian Groody (Vice President of Global New Energy Business, Oilfield Services & Equipment at Baker Hughes), Daniel Wilson (Senior Geothermal Well Engineer at PT Solenis Technologies Indonesia), Hans Dick (Business Development Manager Asia at SLB Asia), Ahmad Yani (President Director of PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk), Suroso Isnandar (Director of PT PLN (Persero)), Taku Kimura (CEO of Sarulla Operations Ltd.), and Supramu Santosa (Founder and Chairman of Supreme Energy), to formulate the future and accelerate clean energy investment in the country.
In addition to the high-level convention, the IIGCE 2026 exhibition area will showcase the latest geothermal innovations and technology from dozens of the world’s leading energy companies. As the largest geothermal exhibition and convention in the region, IIGCE 2026 will bring together industry leaders, policymakers, investors, and academics from various countries to shape the future of clean energy.
