Georgia regards Indonesia as a valuable partner in Southeast Asia
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Georgia’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Tornike Nozadze, has highlighted the excellent relations between Georgia and Indonesia, describing Indonesia as a highly valuable partner in Southeast Asia.
“In short, very good,” said Ambassador Nozadze in an exclusive interview with the ANTARA News Agency in Jakarta on Tuesday (28/4).
Indonesia and Georgia, he said, have maintained diplomatic relations for more than two decades, and both countries have gradually built partnerships and friendships.
According to him, Indonesia has a very strong voice and role in the ASEAN region. Indonesia is also a highly valuable partner, not only politically but also in terms of trade, cultural exchanges, tourism, and more.
Despite the distance separating the two countries, they are seen to share many common principles in daily life, including respect for sovereignty, respect for the nation’s future, commitment to international law, and interest in expanding mutually beneficial cooperation.
“So, we not only view Indonesia as our strong partner and friend at present, but we are also confident that Indonesia will become even stronger in the future,” he said.
Economic relations between Georgia and Indonesia have untapped potential that has not yet been maximised.
To that end, although the current trade volume is still relatively small, both sides are exploring opportunities to expand cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, tourism, logistics, and the digital economy.
Meanwhile, strengthening business connections and increasing awareness of market opportunities are also considered key to unlocking that potential.
Nozadze highlighted that the geographical conditions of both countries have posed challenges in increasing trade volume between them.
Nevertheless, in recent years, Indonesia and Georgia have been very active in bringing together Indonesian and Georgian business actors, as well as raising awareness about each other.
Through various projects and initiatives, both countries have successfully increased the number of tourists.
In addition, through joint ideas with the Indonesian government, Georgia has also successfully organised several activities that help businesses find more opportunities to do business in each other’s countries.
