Vehicle volume on the return flow of Eid 2026 along the national arterial route in the Gentong area, Kadipaten Subdistrict, Tasikmalaya Regency, experienced a significant increase on Monday (23/3/2026). A long jam stretching up to 10 kilometres was observed from the Pamoyanan intersection to the Gentong Ring Road towards Bandung.

The congestion was triggered by the high volume of private vehicles and public transport coming from Central Java towards West Java. Based on observations at the site, the disrupted traffic flow was worsened by vehicles entering and exiting at several crucial points, such as the fuel station, the Ciawi Panyusuhan intersection, Sukamantri, and the Pamoyanan Three-Way intersection.

A commuter from Bandung, Budhi (34), claimed to be stuck in total gridlock in the Ciawi area. Having just returned from Tasikmalaya, he said that four-wheeled vehicles were barely moving on the route towards the Gentong Ring Road.

“The congestion on this H+2 has not yet reached its peak, but vehicles are already trapped from Ciawi to the upper Gentong Ring Road. Many private cars are breaking down on the Gentong Ring Road incline, causing the traffic to stutter,” said Budhi.

A similar situation was experienced by Gungun (49), a resident of Antapani, Bandung. The journey from Ciamis to Bandung, which usually takes 3.5 hours, has now ballooned dramatically due to density on the southern route.

He recounted that he departed from Ciamis at 10:00 WIB and only reached the Gentong Ring Road around 14:00 WIB. According to him, the jam snaked up to the Gentong Eatery area, especially when the police implemented traffic engineering.

“This year’s return journey has delays due to being stuck in traffic at the Pamoyanan intersection, extending after the police authorities enforced a one-way system,” said Gungun.

The Head of Traffic Police at Tasikmalaya City Police Resort, AKP Riki Kustiawan, confirmed the surge in vehicle volume on this H+2. According to him, the density occurred due to the mixing of return flows with local commuters undertaking tourist trips and social visits.

“Congestion on the national arterial route through Gentong is indeed occurring in both directions, both towards Garut and Tasikmalaya. This is because there are local commuters who are currently sightseeing,” explained AKP Riki.

To anticipate worse congestion, the police have implemented an Action Procedure (CB) in the form of a situational open-close system or one-way. This measure is expected to smooth the traffic flow from east to west and vice versa at congestion-prone points.
