Genesis Prepares Launch in Indonesia

The arrival of South Korean premium brand Genesis in Indonesia appears to be only a matter of time. A strong signal emerged after the official Genesis Indonesia website went live, displaying its model range along with a 2026 price list.

The website features several models including the G80, Electrified G80, GV70 and GV80, complete with on-the-road prices for DKI Jakarta. This move has fuelled speculation that the official launch of the luxury brand under the Hyundai Motor Group umbrella is drawing ever closer.

In response, PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia Chief Operating Officer Fransiscus Soerjopranoto confirmed that a dedicated team is already operating in Indonesia. However, their focus is not yet on mass sales but rather on preparations ahead of the official launch.

"The dedicated Genesis team is currently conducting VIP sales consultations with existing customers and Genesis owners in Indonesia," he said when contacted on Friday, 20 February 2026.

The initiative is designed to allow the Genesis team to meet directly with users who already own Genesis vehicles, albeit units that were brought into the country in limited numbers. From these meetings, the team is gathering various inputs regarding service requirements, expectations for the after-sales network, and customer experience standards in the premium segment.

This strategy is considered a markedly different approach compared to other brands, which typically open dealerships and hold public launches straight away. Genesis appears intent on ensuring its service foundations and ecosystem readiness are fully mature before announcing its official presence.

"This initiative allows the Genesis team to meet directly with customers and obtain feedback to prepare the best possible service and address the needs of future Genesis customers. This is all part of the overall preparation ahead of the official Genesis brand launch in Indonesia," he said.

Based on the price list already published on the official website, Genesis will compete in the premium segment with prices ranging from approximately Rp 1 billion to above Rp 2 billion. Luxury sedan and SUV models will form the core of the line-up, including electrified variants that underscore the brand's commitment to environmentally friendly vehicles.
