Generator Fire on Pinisi Ship in Labuan Bajo, No Casualties Reported

A fire incident occurred on the pinisi ship Somerdive in the waters of Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara, in the early hours of Tuesday. The vessel was anchored in front of the Kampung Ujung seafood area when a portable generator used for the crew’s lighting caught fire.

Stephanus Risdiyanto, Head of the Labuan Bajo Class III Port Authority (KSOP), confirmed that the ship itself did not catch fire. The burning generator was successfully thrown into the sea to prevent the flames from spreading. No casualties were reported in the incident, and the condition of the ship remains safe.

Risdiyanto stated that a comprehensive inspection of the vessel will be carried out by a Marine Inspector to ensure its seaworthiness following the incident.
