General wins gubernatorial vote
PALU, Central Sulawesi: Bandjela Paliudju, a retired brigadier
general and currently chairman of the Central Sulawesi board of
Golkar, won the vote at the local legislative council for the
post of governor.
Bandjela won 32 votes out of possible 44 in the election.
Abdul Aziz Tandju, currently assistant governor, got seven votes
and Kiesman Abdullah, assistant to the administration's
secretary, received five, Antara reported.
His election is still to be confirmed by a presidential
decision, which in the past, has been a formality.
If confirmed, he will replace Aziz Lamadjido, who has served
two five-year terms. (emb)
