General Who Cracked Down on Illegal Mining Officially Appointed as Cenderawasih Regional Commander
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesian Armed Forces Chief General Agus Subiyanto led the handover and inauguration of positions in the Gatot Soebroto Hall at TNI Headquarters, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Wednesday (25/3/2026). Also present were Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak, Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali, and Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal Mohamad Tonny Harjono. Among the positions handed over were the Commander of the XVII/Cenderawasih Military Region from Major General Amrin Ibrahim to Major General Febriel Buyung Sikumbang. Prior to this, Febriel served as the Head of the Task Force for Regulating Forest and Mining Areas (Kasatgas PKH) Halilintar, which was tasked with cracking down on illegal mining operations. Subsequently, the Commander of Kodameral X was handed over from Major General (Marine) Werijon to Brigadier General (Marine) Sugianto, the Commander of Regional Command 173/Praja Vira Braja (PVB) from Brigadier General I Ketut Mertha Genarda to Brigadier General Vivin Alvianto, and the Commander of Regional Command 172/Praja Wira Yakthi (PWY) from Brigadier General Tagor Rio Pasaribu to Brigadier General Robby Suryadi. Notably, the TNI Chief also led the handover of middle officer (pamen) positions.
