The Genera-Z Berbakti programme, a platform for university students to compete with ideas and contribute directly to tourism villages assisted by Bakti BCA, has entered the quarter-final stage. Eight teams have been selected as finalists from more than 260 proposals submitted by 98 public and private higher education institutions. The finalists come from Cenderawasih University, Airlangga University, Gadjah Mada University, Padjadjaran University, Sunan Gunung Djati State Islamic University Bandung, IPB University, the University of Indonesia, and BINUS University. The eight finalists will pitch their ideas to prove their readiness for direct deployment to their destination locations from July to August 2026. The pitch competition can be watched starting 20 June on BCA’s YouTube channel and partner platforms. The community service locations being contested by the Genera-Z Berbakti 2026 finalists are: Kreatif Terong Tourism Village in Belitung Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands; Gunung Padang Site Tourism Village in Cianjur Regency, West Java; Patakbanteng Tourism Village in Wonosobo Regency, Central Java; and Kakaskasen Dua Tourism Village in Tomohon City, North Sulawesi. Hera F. Haryn, EVP Corporate Communication & Social Responsibility at BCA, stated that through Genera-Z Berbakti, BCA seeks to bridge and connect creative and innovative ideas from students with communities in various Bakti BCA-assisted tourism villages. She expressed confidence that the programme can bring positive impacts for both students and the communities in the target areas, adding that such cross-sector collaboration is needed to ensure Indonesia’s success in optimising its demographic dividend and reaching the Golden Indonesia 2045 target. Genera-Z Berbakti 2026 features three panellists: Bakti BCA Ambassador Nicholas Saputra, entertainer and sociopreneur Cinta Laura, and scientist and social entrepreneur Tri Mumpuni. Cinta Laura and Tri Mumpuni are new figures joining Nicholas Saputra, after the 2025 edition featured the Bakti BCA Ambassador alongside Happy Salma and Professor Yohanes Surya. Nicholas Saputra observed that the students’ ideas were remarkably sharp, noting they appeared focused on digging into problems and the reasoning behind their programme proposals. He added that the participants looked enthusiastic, with proposals that were more prepared and teams that were more cohesive. The 2026 programme features a series of compelling stories from finalists with diverse backgrounds and motivations. The Lestari team from Cenderawasih University, for instance, admitted to often spending time on campus until late at night while drafting their activity proposal. Syahlika, a Nursing Science student at Uncen and a member of the Lestari team, said they did not want to do things half-heartedly, so they spent three consecutive days analysing opportunities before registering, often discussing until late at night accompanied by security guards. Another story came from Tri Febriansah, a member of the DESA HIDUP group from Sunan Gunung Djati State Islamic University Bandung. He admitted that Genera-Z Berbakti allowed him to spend more time with friends on campus, something he said had never happened before joining the programme. Tri, an Informatics Engineering student, explained that he was previously less active on campus and spent more time on outside activities, leaving him short of moments with friends. By joining Genera-Z Berbakti, he began spending more time on campus and creating moments with friends to draft proposals, pitch decks, and other materials, all of which he found memorable.
