Gen Z Moving Away from WhatsApp and Telegram, Opting for New Messaging Methods

Generation Z is beginning to show interest in digital communication methods that are not instantaneous. Amidst the dominance of WhatsApp, Telegram, and iMessage, a number of young people are choosing applications that deliberately make message delivery slower.

This trend was highlighted in a Yahoo Tech report, which revealed that the new method involves using applications such as Carrier Pidge and Roost. These applications offer a messaging experience similar to using carrier pigeons.

Instead of arriving immediately on the recipient’s phone, messages are sent via virtual pigeon animations that require time to reach their destination. The speed of the pigeons in these applications averages around 177 kilometres per hour. Messages for short distances can arrive within seconds, but transcontinental delivery can take several hours.
