The second day of Jogja Financial Festival 2026 at the Jogja Expo Center was filled with the enthusiasm of young people eager to learn how to manage money and invest early. One class that drew a crowd was the session titled ‘Cuan Sebelum 25: Level Up Finansial dan Investasi Bareng Livin’ by Mandiri’. The eductional class was hosted by Shania and featured a speaker from Bank Mandiri. In the session, participants were guided to understand the importance of saving, investing, and personal financial management for the younger generation.

DetikJogja observed that the class attracted participants from various backgrounds, especially youth and Gen Z such as students and undergraduates who want to become literate about banking products.

The classroom atmosphere was relaxed, with quizzes and prizes to capture participants’ attention. One participant, Angga, said he came to the class to deepen his knowledge of money management and banking products. He shared that he initially learned to rotate the money given as allowance from his parents and eventually started a camera rental business. He is currently still an early-year university student.

“From THR I also saved to open the business earlier,” Angga said when responding to questions from the host about how frugal he is with his money during the event on Saturday, 23 May 2026.

Angga said he now has three bank savings accounts to manage his finances and business needs. He also expressed interest in learning about Bank Mandiri’s digital services presented in the class.

“I find the products interesting as well,” he added.

In the session, Risdianto, AVP Retail Deposit Product & Solution Group of PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk, explained that the savings trend among young people now prioritises ease and speed of digital services.

“The trend of saving among young people now is they don’t want to be bothered, easy and everywhere,” he said.

He noted that digital services such as Livin’ by Mandiri make it easier for the younger generation to open accounts or conduct transactions without having to visit a branch office.

Meanwhile, Pratomo Setiaji Kendarto, VP Wealth Management Group at PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk, reminded young people not to join high-risk investments just because they seem popular without first understanding the products.

He observed that many young people are driven by fear of missing out (FOMO), including when looking at stock trends or crypto assets that promise large profits.

“Understand the products first before investing,” he said.

Pratomo also underscored the importance of an emergency fund before starting to invest. In addition, young people need to understand financial challenges such as inflation and the phenomenon of the sandwich generation.

Jogja Financial Festival 2026 itself is organised by LPS in collaboration with Transmedia from 22-24 May 2026. In addition to educational classes, the festival also features business talks along with music and comedy entertainment.
