Gen. Feisal baptizes warships
BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: Armed Forces (ABRI) Chief Gen. Feisal Tanjung will christen a new warship at the port of Tri Sakti tomorrow. The corvette will be named KRI Hassan Basry, after the late Brig. Gen. Hassan Basry, a prominent figure in the province who died in 1984, Antara reported yesterday.
On Thursday, Feisal will travel to Biak, Irian Jaya, and christen three other warships, according to Amanul Yakin of the South Kalimantan administration.
The ships are the KRI Silas Papare-386, KRI Teluk Cendrawasih- 533 and KRI Teluk Berau-534.
The Hassan Basry and the three other warships are some of the 39 vessels purchased from the German government. (swe)
