Behind the laptop screen, a silent assistant in the form of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is at work. With a few prompts, an essay framework is instantly compiled, initial references are gathered, and the immediate panic subsides. In the current era, deadlines no longer feel as terrifying.
The development of AI over the last two years has profoundly altered the academic landscape. Platforms like ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity are no longer just complementary tools but have become deeply embedded in the daily routines of Indonesian students. This phenomenon triggers a massive cultural shift in learning. However, behind the convenience it offers, a crucial question emerges: is this a form of smart adaptation in the digital age, or merely a shortcut that gradually erodes the process of deep thinking?
Observing the dynamics in campus libraries or coffee shops, using AI to dissect complex journals or structure presentations has become commonplace.
