Gemini to Limit Access for Free and AI Plus Users

Google appears set to introduce limitations on the Gemini models accessible to free users and AI Plus subscribers.

According to a report by 9to5 Google on Saturday (3/9) local time, updated Google support documents indicate that users of the Gemini application without a subscription, or free users, will have their access restricted solely to the Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite model.

Starting from 9 October 2026 local time, users who do not pay a subscription fee for Gemini will no longer be able to access higher-tier models such as Gemini 3.6 Flash and Gemini 3.1 Pro.

As for AI Plus subscribers, the AI capabilities offered will be limited to the Flash-Lite and Flash models, while access to the Pro version of the AI model will no longer be available.

The exact date for these changes to apply to subscribers paying a fee of $4.99 USD (approximately Rp89,000) has not yet been disclosed, but users are expected to
