Gembrong Market is known as one of the centres for selling children’s toys with a diverse selection for various ages. During the Eid holiday period, a variety of toys such as children’s bicycles, toy guns, and toy cars become highly sought after. Children appear enthusiastic about utilising their Holiday Allowance (THR) to buy the toys they desire. One trader revealed that during the Eid holiday period, turnover increases by up to 35% compared to regular days, which only generate turnover of Rp1-2 million. “On regular days, it’s quiet, sometimes there are no buyers at all,” the trader added to CNBC Indonesia. On average, toy prices at Gembrong Market are priced starting from Rp10,000 up to hundreds of thousands of rupiah, with toy trends that continuously change every year also influencing sales. Nevertheless, certain types of other toys remain popular. For boys, remote-controlled cars are still a favourite, while girls tend to choose Barbie dolls or similar toys.
