Gema Indonesia Emas, Ready to Become a Big Home for Activists
Generasi Muda Keadilan (Gema Keadilan) has launched Gema Indonesia Emas as a national movement, one of the strategic outcomes of the Gema Keadilan 2026 National Working Meeting (Rakernas). The movement is directed at expanding youth contributions through seven key issues: education, environment, mosque prosperity, Palestine advocacy, youth economic empowerment, women’s empowerment, and fair law enforcement.
Gema Keadilan Chairman Rahmat Saleh stated that Gema Indonesia Emas represents an effort to translate optimism towards Golden Indonesia into tangible work that can be directly felt by the public.
“Golden Indonesia must not stop as a slogan or merely an aspiration for 2045. It must begin to be worked on today. Therefore, we present Gema Indonesia Emas as a concrete youth movement to take part in resolving societal problems and advancing Indonesia,” said Rahmat in his statement in Jakarta on Wednesday (26/8).
According to him, the seven focus areas of Gema Indonesia Emas reflect the need to build young people holistically, encompassing intellectual, spiritual, social, economic, environmental awareness, and a commitment to justice.
“With the spirit of Gema Indonesia Emas, Gema Keadilan is committed to producing a young generation that is intelligent, environmentally conscious, concerned about humanitarian issues, economically independent, active in advocacy, and ready to take on roles in national leadership,” he said.
The Gema Keadilan 2026 National Working Meeting also affirmed the organisation’s direction to become a big home for young activists from various backgrounds. Gema Keadilan aims to be a space for young people to meet, grow, strengthen leadership capacity, expand networks, and collectively contribute to the nation and state.
“Gema Keadilan wants to become a big home for young activists. A place where young people encounter ideas, grow in leadership, strengthen their capacity, and find space to make a greater contribution to Indonesia,” said Rahmat.
Rahmat, who is also a Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the PKS faction, emphasised that youth activism must be directed not only towards the courage to voice ideas but also towards the ability to deliver solutions and tangible benefits within society.
“Activism is not enough with just enthusiasm and a loud voice. Activism must produce leadership, work, and benefit. We want the young people of Gema Keadilan to be present in society as part of the solution,” he continued.
During the National Working Meeting, Gema Keadilan also expressed concern over the disaster that struck East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). Rahmat called on the entire community to continue strengthening solidarity and assisting affected residents on humanitarian grounds.
“The sorrow of the people of NTT is our shared sorrow. In disaster situations, humanity must be prioritised. Solidarity must not recognise divisions of group, region, or background. Care is a great strength of the Indonesian nation,” said Rahmat.
Additionally, Gema Keadilan highlighted the forest and land fires occurring in several regions, particularly Kalimantan. Gema Keadilan urged the government to make public health, wildlife safety, and ecosystem protection the top priorities in handling forest and land fires.
“Forest and land fires are not merely a matter of burning forests. There are people breathing polluted air, wildlife losing their habitats, and ecosystems whose damage can have long-term impacts. Therefore, handling must be swift, serious, and comprehensive. The law must be enforced against perpetrators,” said Rahmat.
Rahmat added that Gema Keadilan is ready to open collaboration spaces with all elements of the nation. According to him, Indonesia’s challenges cannot be solved by a single organisation or group alone.
“We open ourselves to move together with youth communities, students, community organisations, academics, business actors, religious leaders, and all elements of the nation. Indonesia needs more collaboration and fewer divisions,” he said.
The 2026 National Working Meeting, said Rahmat, serves as the starting point to ensure that all ideas and programmes of Gema Keadilan are translated into tangible work across various regions.
“The National Working Meeting is not the end of an agenda, but the beginning of a greater movement. This Gema Keadilan National Working Meeting is expected to be a momentum for transforming Gema Keadilan from merely a youth organisation into a youth movement with a strong structure, excellent human resources, real actions, wide networks, and a future leadership orientation,” concluded Rahmat Saleh.
