Gejayan Memanggil activist Syahdan Husein expressed disappointment with the two-year prison sentence sought by prosecutors in a hearing on alleged incitement to demonstration charges at the Central Jakarta District Court on Friday (27 February).

“We express our condolences to the voices of the people that have been silenced in the name of state prosecution,” Syahdan said following the prosecution’s sentencing recommendations at the Central Jakarta District Court on Friday (27 February).

“Here we are burdened with the situation of August which experienced unrest and we are considered the architects,” he continued.

Syahdan stressed that the threat of imprisonment would not silence him and his three colleagues on the issues occurring. He stated that the two-year prison sentence would never erase Indonesian national history, which would continue to fight against injustice.

On this occasion, he hoped the judges’ panel would issue a decision based on legal facts presented during the trial.

“I ask for prayers for my friends so that the judges’ verdict will be something that alleviates our situation,” said Syahdan.

“And pray that our parents remain steadfast, our parents remain steadfast, and we will remain steadfast facing everything that has happened during our detention,” he added.

Previously, prosecutors sought the Central Jakarta District Court judges’ panel to sentence Syahdan Husein, Lokataru Foundation Director Delpedro Marhaen, Lokataru Foundation staff and Instagram account manager of Blok Politik Pelajar Muzaffar Salim, and Riau University student and Aliansi Mahasiswa Menggugat administrator Khariq Anhar to two years in prison.

According to prosecutors, the defendants have been proven to have committed electronic incitement related to demonstrations on 25-30 August 2025 that resulted in disorder causing damage to public facilities and injuries to law enforcement officers, as charged under article 246 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP) in conjunction with article 20 letter c of the KUHP.

“(Seeking the judges’ panel to) impose a sentence on Defendant I Delpedro Marhaen, Defendant II Muzaffar Salim, Defendant III Syahdan Husein, and Defendant IV Khariq Anhar with a prison sentence of two years reduced by the time the defendants have served in detention,” the prosecutor said when reading the sentencing recommendation at the Central Jakarta District Court on Friday (27 February).
