Gegana Team Investigates Scene of Mosque Explosion in Jember, East Java

Police have tightened security at the site of the explosion at Masjid Raya Pesona, located in Pesona Raya Regency housing complex, Patrang sub-district, Jember. Several armed personnel have been deployed to the area.

According to detikJatim on Tuesday (17 March 2026), the Gegana team from Brimob Polda Jatim (East Java Regional Police mobile brigade) has directly conducted scene of crime investigation to establish the source of the explosion. Comprehensive examinations have been carried out across the entire mosque area to ensure the location is completely secure and free from further hazards.

The explosion, which occurred on Monday (16 March) at 19:30 WIB, startled worshippers who were performing Tarawih prayers. Immediately following the incident, police secured the perimeter and established a police cordon to restrict public access.

Jember Police Chief AKBP Bobby A. Condroputra personally oversaw security operations. He instructed all personnel to remain vigilant throughout the investigation process.

“I have ordered all personnel to stand guard around the incident location and ensure the area remains secure during the scene investigation,” he stated.

Personnel from Sat Samapta Polres Jember, together with Brimob officers deployed from Bondowoso, were positioned at several strategic points within the residential area. This measure was taken to anticipate potential further security threats.
