Geely EX2 Pro Acceleration Test: Evaluating Comfort and Sport Modes
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Responsiveness is undoubtedly one of the main attractions of electric cars, including the Geely EX2 Pro. Although it is the entry-level variant, its performance still feels quite aggressive for everyday use.
Kompas.com tested the acceleration capabilities of this electric SUV using a Racelogic VBox measuring device in Comfort mode.
The results showed that the Geely EX2 Pro recorded an acceleration time of 0-60 km/h in 4.9 seconds. Meanwhile, for 0-100 km/h, this electric SUV took 10.2 seconds.
When the driving mode was changed to Sport, the acceleration time did not differ significantly. The 0-60 km/h mark was reached in 4.8 seconds, while the 0-100 km/h mark took 10.3 seconds.
For information, the EX2 Pro is equipped with a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) electric motor with a power of 85 kW or equivalent to 114-115 hp and a peak torque of 150 Nm.
Interestingly, this power is channeled to the rear wheels, making it a Rear Wheel Drive (RWD). This characteristic makes the initial push of the car feel quite natural and light when accelerating.
When the accelerator pedal is fully depressed, the response of the power feels instantly without the typical delay of conventional car transmissions.
In Comfort mode, the gas pedal character is actually made quite smooth and easy to control. However, when needed to overtake vehicles or enter toll roads, the available power still feels responsive.
The initial pull from a standstill also feels quite spontaneous, especially at low to medium speeds which are indeed the main habitat of urban electric cars.
When the speed starts to reach three digits, acceleration does start to feel more linear. This is quite reasonable considering that the EX2 Pro prioritizes efficiency and comfort over aggressive performance.
Overall, the performance of the Geely EX2 Pro feels more than sufficient for daily use needs. The instant response, RWD character, and light initial acceleration make this car enjoyable to drive in urban areas.
