HUANGZHOU, KOMPAS.com - The electric vehicle technology race in China is intensifying. Geely, through its Lynk & Co brand, has introduced a battery charging technology that is faster than BYD’s.

In tests on the Lynk & Co 10 electric vehicle, the battery could be charged from 10% to 70% in just 4 minutes and 22 seconds. To reach 97%, it took around 8 minutes and 42 seconds.

This result was released just one month after BYD introduced its second-generation Blade battery and megawatt flash charging technology, claimed to be the fastest for mass production.

Additionally, the charging power during the test was exceptionally high, reaching 1,100 kW. Even when the battery was 80% full, the input power remained above 500 kW. This means the charging process stays quick even when the battery is nearly full.

However, it should be noted that these results come from a special test. The vehicle used Zeekr’s ultra-fast charging station with the latest technology.

Thus, such rapid charging speeds may not yet be immediately available to all electric vehicle users.

On the other hand, Geely through Zeekr is continuously expanding its charging network. By February 2026, there will be more than 2,100 stations and around 10,000 chargers spread across 215 cities in China.

BYD is also not standing still. The manufacturer has built around 5,000 fast charging stations and targets up to 20,000 units by the end of the year.

Not all vehicles can necessarily achieve maximum speeds if using chargers from different brands.

In other words, although the technology is highly advanced, its practical implementation will still take time to be fully enjoyed by users on a wide scale.
