JAKARTA (JP): PT Pembangunan Jaya, a joint venture between the
Municipal Administration and private companies, began work on the
construction of a new 17-story building in Bintaro Jaya, South
Jakarta, yesterday.
The start of the construction of the building, called Gedung
Jaya, was marked by the laying of the cornerstone by Ciputra,
president of the company.
Ciputra said that the building would be used to accommodate
Pembangunan Jaya's subsidiaries, including Jayabank, Jaya Teknik,
Jaya Konstruksi, Arkonin, Jaya CM, Jaya Trade and Jaya Real
Property.
"The architecture, construction and mechanical planning was
done by PT Arkonindo, while construction management is being
handled by PT Jaya CM," he said, adding that the project was
scheduled to be completed in 20 months at a cost of Rp 37.3
billion (US$16.95m).
He said that the location of the building, in Sector 7 and the
adjacent lot in Sector 9, placed it in the central business
district.
The construction of the Gedung Jaya building will be followed
up by the construction of a 300,000 square meter shopping center,
billed as the largest of its kind in Indonesia.
Many other projects are expected to be carried out at the
business center, including the construction of apartments, hotels
and various commercial facilities, Ciputra said. (hhr)
