GCC Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi Condemns Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia
Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Albudaiwi, has issued a strongly worded statement condemning a series of attacks by the Houthi militia from Yemen against the territory of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The condemnation came in the wake of aggressive actions by the group deemed to pose a systematic threat to regional stability.
Albudaiwi emphasised that the attacks carried out by the Houthi militia deliberately and repeatedly targeted civilian infrastructure and civilians. In their operations, the group was found to have used various heavy weaponry, including ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (drones).
The GCC Secretary-General assessed these actions not as an ordinary security disturbance, but as a dangerous criminal escalation. According to him, the pattern of these attacks confirms the true nature of the Houthi group, which disregards human safety and international norms.
“These continuous attacks constitute a flagrant violation of international law. They are a direct threat to the security and stability of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and endanger the safety of citizens and residents living in the affected areas,” Albudaiwi stated, as quoted from the official SPA source, Tuesday (15/9).
In his official statement, Albudaiwi reaffirmed the solidarity and united stance of GCC member states in standing firmly alongside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The GCC extended its full support for all defensive measures and strategic actions taken by the Saudi authorities.
This support encompasses efforts to protect sovereign territory, safeguard national security, and ensure the safety of the people and the nation’s vital assets from external threats.
The situation along the border and in affected areas continues to be closely monitored by local security authorities to ensure there are no further threats that could harm national assets or public safety. (SPA/Ant/I-1)
