GCC Secretary-General Condemns Israel's Death Sentence for Palestinian Detainee

Riyadh (ANTARA) - The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Albudaiwi, has strongly condemned the decision of the Israeli occupying forces regarding the death penalty for a Palestinian detainee.

According to a press release from the GCC General Secretariat on Tuesday (31/3), Albudaiwi stated that the decision issued by the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset, constitutes a blatant violation and is contrary to all international laws and humanitarian norms.

He called on the international community to fulfil their legal and humanitarian obligations to stop the decision and illegal practices of the Israeli occupation forces, which pose a threat to the Palestinian people.

Furthermore, Albudaiwi reiterated the GCC’s firm stance in supporting the Palestinian struggle and efforts to achieve a solution through the cessation of the Israeli occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
