GBK Reveals Fate of Guests Who Booked Hotel Sultan, Sets Up Crisis Centre
Hotel Sultan in Central Jakarta has been executed and handed over by the Central Jakarta District Court to the government today. The Gelora Bung Karno Complex Management Centre (PPKGBK) has stated that some guests had already made room reservations at the hotel.
PPKGBK President Director Rakhmadi Afif Kusumo said these guests are asked to come to a crisis centre opened across from Hotel Sultan to have their bookings redirected to other hotels. “For those with bookings in the near future, such as tomorrow, today, or the day after, please come directly to our crisis centre. Several guests have already arrived and been moved to other hotels in the Senayan area,” Rakhmadi said following the execution at the site on Thursday (18/6/2026).
However, Rakhmadi stressed that GBK will not provide compensation to the prospective guests. He noted that the contracts were made between the guests and the hotel’s previous operator, PT Indobuildco. “They made the bookings themselves, and to be clear, they also paid for them themselves,” he added.
Rakhmadi said PPKGBK will register the guests who have booked at Hotel Sultan and will try to assist them as much as possible. “Our legal team will certainly try to help as best they can regarding the booking or contractual relationships of the consumers, who we understand may have booked online or directly with the previous party. We will help as far as we can after we cross-check the details,” he said.
Meanwhile, GBK’s legal counsel, Chandra Hamzah, stated that the room bookings made before the execution were between the consumers and the hotel’s previous operator, PT Indobuildco. Therefore, GBK has no contractual ties to these bookings. “The party with the obligation to provide the facilities is Indobuildco. PPKGBK has no contractual relationship with them. However, we note that the PPKGBK website had already announced that the execution would take place on the 18th. If someone booked while knowing an execution was imminent, their good faith is something they should consider themselves,” he added.
