The legal representative for the Gelora Bung Karno Complex Management Centre (PPKGBK), Chandra Hamzah, has confirmed that there was never a sale and purchase agreement for the Block 15 land occupied by Hotel Sultan. He stressed that there was no release of land or grant to PT Indobuildco. Chandra made this statement during the execution of the Hotel Sultan eviction by the Central Jakarta District Court bailiff on Thursday (18/6/2026). He stated that the land was only subject to a right of use. “There was no sale, no release of land rights, no inheritance, no grant, no transfer of rights from the Government of the Republic of Indonesia to Indobuildco. There was nothing at all, only a permit to use the land for 30 years,” Chandra said. Chandra explained that the process of securing this state asset has been ongoing for 20 years, since 2006. Today, the Central Jakarta District Court ruled that Hotel Sultan must be vacated. “So, based on the Central Jakarta District Court’s decision and the execution order from the court, the eviction execution is being carried out today, 18 June 2026,” he stated. Chandra recounted the long history of how Block 15 came under state control starting in 1958, when it was designated to support the Asian Games. “I can convey here that the government, from 1958 to 1962, acquired this land for the implementation of the fourth Asian Games in Jakarta,” he said. Chandra claimed to possess the original proof of land acquisition. Subsequently, the state granted PT Indobuildco permission to use it. “The original proof of land acquisition exists. So it is not just talk. This is one example of the proof of land acquisition from 1958 to 1962. Then, PT Indobuildco was given permission to use it,” he stated.
