Gaza National Committee Chair Arrives in US to Attend Board of Peace Meeting
The chair of the Palestinian Technocrat Committee established to handle Gaza’s day-to-day governance, Ali Shaath, is in Washington. He will attend the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace established by the United States.
“Ali Shaath arrived in Washington in the early hours of this morning to participate in the Board of Peace meeting in Washington,” said a source familiar with the committee, as reported by AFP on Thursday (19 February 2026).
Ali Shaath is expected to deliver a speech at the meeting. He will present his plan for rebuilding Gaza in the first 100 days.
“Shaath is scheduled to deliver a speech outlining the general framework of his plan for the first 100 days. He is accompanied by a committee official responsible for the finance portfolio,” the source said.
A committee member confirmed to AFP that Shaath had arrived “after receiving an invitation yesterday to attend the meeting in Washington.”
Around two dozen world leaders and senior officials have travelled to Washington for the meeting, which was formed after the Trump administration, together with Qatar and Egypt, negotiated a ceasefire in October to end the two-year war in Gaza.
At Thursday’s meeting, Trump is expected to detail pledges of more than $5 billion for Gaza.
The meeting will also discuss how to launch an International Stabilisation Force that will ensure security in Gaza.
