Gaza Included in Iran's Ceasefire Conditions as Palestinian Resistance Rises
Tehran – Iran has finally included the cessation of Israeli aggression in Gaza as a condition for continuing ceasefire negotiations with the United States. Iran has described the ongoing genocide in Gaza as part of an attack against the Islamic Republic.
On Monday, Iran announced it would halt all communications with the US unless Israel stops the expansion of its military attacks in southern Lebanon, according to the semi-official Iranian news agency, Tasnim.
“Given the continued crimes of the Zionist regime in Lebanon, and considering that Lebanon is one of the prerequisites for a ceasefire, and that this ceasefire has now been violated on all fronts, including Lebanon, the Iranian negotiating team has halted ‘talks and the exchange of texts through mediators’,” Taslim reported.
Iran also demands an end to “aggressive and brutal military operations in Gaza and Lebanon” and calls for the “total withdrawal of Israel from occupied territories in Lebanon.”
Iran’s announcement comes shortly after the Israeli military warned residents on the southern outskirts of Beirut, Dahiyeh, to evacuate the area ahead of planned airstrikes. Following Iran’s threat, US President Donald Trump reportedly called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to urge a halt to the attacks.
According to The Palestine Chronicles, Palestinian resistance groups have welcomed Iran’s decision to link the resumption of negotiations to the end of Israeli war and aggression across all fronts, including Gaza and Lebanon.
In a statement released last night, these factions described Iran’s position as a “principled stance,” stating that it reflects Tehran’s long-standing support for the Palestinian people, their resistance, and the wider region in the face of Israeli and US-backed aggression.
The Palestinian resistance factions stated that Iran’s position is a continuation of its “authentic stance” towards the Palestinian people and the communities in the region. They also called upon what they described as the “free people” to mobilise in support of the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples in the face of ongoing Israeli-US genocide and aggression.
The factions asserted that the aggression targets “both humans and stone,” viewing it as part of a broader Israeli expansionist plan.
