Gaza Committee Declares Readiness to Manage Territory Post-Ceasefire
Istanbul (ANTARA) - The National Committee for Gaza Administration (NCAG) welcomed the progress announced regarding the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire roadmap on Friday, stating it is fully prepared to take over governing responsibilities in the region. In a statement posted on X, the committee described the development as a “significant milestone” for the people of Gaza after years of facing conflict, destruction, and uncertainty.
The NCAG stated that its priority is to translate this progress into concrete steps that can improve the daily lives of the population. The committee also noted that it has completed extensive institutional and operational preparations over recent months to assume the administration of Gaza, restore essential public services, strengthen the rule of law, facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid, and lead recovery and reconstruction efforts.
The reconstruction of Gaza is a “colossal task” that requires sustained international commitment, significant financial resources, and close cooperation from all relevant parties, according to the committee. The NCAG emphasised that its goal extends beyond mere reconstruction; it seeks to realise a safe, stable, and prosperous Gaza managed by legitimate Palestinian institutions, based on the rule of law and committed to upholding the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and statehood.
“The people of Gaza have waited long enough,” the committee stated, adding that it is ready to work with all partners to promote recovery, reconstruction, and a better future for the Gaza Strip. Previously on Friday, US President Donald Trump announced that an agreement had been reached regarding the comprehensive disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza, with Israeli forces set to withdraw gradually as the process unfolds. Trump also noted that Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye played roles in mediating what he described as a historic breakthrough. He stated that the agreement would be implemented in stages, with an International Stabilisation Force working alongside a new Palestinian police force to assume security responsibilities in Gaza.
