The public was irritated by a series of posts from an official’s daughter named Dea Arranoya, showing off a luxurious lifestyle on social media.

Dea Arranoya, daughter of dr Nevirizal, Assistant I to the Regional Secretariat (Setdakab) of Gayo Lues Regency, Aceh, shocked netizens on social media after she flaunted wealth attributed to her father.

Previously, she posted a photo of herself wearing a white coat with a stethoscope around her neck.

In the photo, she wrote a statement claiming her education had been funded by her father, which was deemed to have triggered public anger.

“Spending papa’s money, sis — my co-assistant tuition fees plus master’s degree came to over Rp20 million,” Dea Arranoya wrote on her Instagram account, @ddeyya.aa.

Not only that, she also wrote remarks perceived as showing off her successful life.

“You think you’re so great. I really am great — compare us in terms of economy, education, family, even partners, and I won’t flinch,” she wrote in an Instagram story.

Dea also displayed a number of jerry cans lined up in the garage of her house, filled with fuel (BBM).

Her post infuriated the public amid news of the earthquake disaster that had struck Gayo Lues, Aceh.

“My papa bought 15 jerry cans of fuel — who knows which car he’s planning to fill up next,” she said.

The post drew criticism because it was seen as displaying luxury and the bulk purchase of fuel while the region was still recovering from the impact of the disaster.

All of Dea Arranoya’s social media accounts have since disappeared.

In an open letter dated 22 July 2026, signed over a duty stamp, Dea Arranoya apologised to the public, particularly the people of Gayo Lues.

The biological daughter of H Nevirizal admitted her mistake regarding the flexing, including the display of rows of fuel-filled jerry cans, which was considered unwise.

Dea said her act of flaunting her wealth in that content was purely due to her carelessness and immaturity.

“I admit my mistake and am in no way seeking justification for my actions. Those posts were purely the result of my carelessness, immaturity and lack of wisdom in using social media,” Dea wrote in the open letter.
