Gateway enters RI market
JAKARTA (JP): The U.S.-based personal computer maker Gateway Inc. announced on Tuesday its entry into the Indonesian PC market regardless of the country's economic crisis.
The company said in a statement that local firm PT Melia Komputindo had been appointed as its authorized distributor in the country, offering Gateway products with a full range of business software applications, documentation, training and support services to clients using computers at home, in business and government.
"As a Gateway authorized reseller in Indonesia, Indonesians can gain fast access to a full range of custom-built systems, featuring the latest technology without carrying costs of finished product inventory," said Peter Quinlan, director of business development for Gateway South Asia.
Gateway is a leading global manufacturer of built-to-order PCs and a Fortune 500 company which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange and also traded on NASDAQ.
The company established its presence in Southeast Asia with the opening of its Singapore and Malaysia offices in 1997, two years after entering the Japanese and Australian markets. Gateway opened its Hong Kong office in September 1998. (rei)
