Gatari to survey Arco's field
JAKARTA (JP): Carson-Gatari Aerogravity has won a tender to do a 5,500-line kilometer airborne gravity and magnetic survey on Arco's Babo oil field in Irian Jaya, Gatari said yesterday.
The geological data from the survey, to begin as soon as a permit is granted early next year, is part of Arco's largest seismic survey, Gatari said.
The company said the survey would effectively reduce seismic costs and increase exploration accuracy, especially in remote areas like Irian Jaya.
Paul Cleek, the vice president for Far East operations of Carson Aerogravity, Gatari's foreign partner, said his company would work with Gatari to pursue follow-up surveys, including non-exclusive surveys over open acreage, with other petroleum companies in Indonesia. (04)
