Gasibu Area in Bandung Officially Closed for Redevelopment

The West Java Provincial Government has temporarily closed the Gasibu area in Bandung, effective from 1 September 2026 until early 2027. The closure is being implemented to facilitate the rearrangement and optimisation of the area as a more organised, safe, comfortable, and functional public space; consequently, the Gasibu area will be unavailable for sporting activities.

The Head of the West Java Communications and Informatics Department, Adi Komar, stated that the redevelopment of the Gasibu area will begin with the upgrading of the jogging track and the improvement of the quality of supporting facilities. The works will be carried out comprehensively while maintaining focus on quality, safety, and public comfort.

He noted that the redevelopment process is projected to continue until early 2027. Adi explained that this timeframe is required to ensure that the redevelopment of Gasibu can be executed optimally.

“During the redevelopment process, the public is urged not to engage in activities within the Gasibu area to ensure the safety and smooth progress of the works,” he said in an official statement on Monday (31/8/2026).

He continued that the public is also expected to adjust their activities and follow official information from the West Java Provincial Government regarding the progress of the redevelopment. The West Java Provincial Government expressed its appreciation and gratitude for the public’s understanding and support during the redevelopment process. This temporary closure is part of an effort to present a more organised Gasibu area that provides better benefits to the community.

Adi stated that once the entire redevelopment process is complete, the Gasibu area will reopen for public use. As a public space with improved facilities, it will be safer, more comfortable, and more supportive of various community activities.

“Once the redevelopment process is finished, the Gasibu area will reopen,” he said.
