Gas stations shut for meter-tampering

MAKASSAR: State oil and gas company PT Pertamina's South Sulawesi operations cut supplies and closed down two filling stations after it was discovered that they had been tampering with their meters.

Spokesman of Pertamina's South Sulawesi operations, Winarto, said on Thursday that one fuel station was located in Makassar city, and the other was in Gowa regency.

The company will keep the ban in place on the two stations, until the owners fix the meters, explained Winarto. The Pertamina spokesman did not give any details as to whether the fuel station owners would be punished for the serious violation. -- Antara
