Gas stations sealed over irregularities
JAKARTA: State-owned oil company Pertamina temporarily closed down on Wednesday two gas stations -- one on Jl. Pluit Selatan in North Jakarta and the other on Jl. I Gusti Ngurah Rai in East Jakarta -- over irregularities in their pumps.
The spokesman for Pertamina's Jakarta branch, Awi Adil, said the gas stations were found using pumps that gave customers incorrect information about the amount of fuel going into their tanks.
"The difference between the fuel volume on the pumps' indicators and the actual fuel volume pumped out ranged between 1.1 liters and 1.4 liters for every 20-liter purchase," Awi was quoted as saying by Antara newswire.
Pertamina allows a difference of just 100 milliliters per 20 liters.
He said Pertamina would halt supplies to the two gas stations for two weeks until the Meteorology Agency, which is responsible for checking and monitoring gas pumps, fixed the problem. --JP
