A residential house in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, caught fire on Friday, 27 February 2026. One person sustained burn injuries in the incident.

“The object that caught fire was a residential house,” said Abdul Wahid, Operations Chief of the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-Department (Sudin Gulkarmat), on Friday.

The fire was reported by residents via telephone at approximately 15:49 WIB. The blaze occurred on Jalan Perumahan PTB, Duren Sawit, East Jakarta.

Six fire trucks and 30 personnel were dispatched to the scene. Firefighting operations commenced at 15:58 WIB.

Flames and smoke engulfed the white-walled house. Approximately 10 minutes later, at 16:08 WIB, the fire was extinguished, followed by a cooling-down process.

Firefighters continued spraying water to ensure the fire was completely extinguished and to prevent re-ignition. The firefighting operation was declared complete at 16:35 WIB.

The fire is believed to have been caused by a gas cooker leak. A 75-year-old man with the initials IWN sustained 20 per cent burn injuries in this incident.

“The sequence of events was that a resident was cooking, then turned off the stove, and then the gas cylinder suddenly leaked and caught fire around the cooker,” he explained.

The area destroyed by the fire covered approximately 117 square metres. A family of four was affected by this fire.
