Gas Cylinder Leak Causes Three Family Members to Suffer Severe Burns in Bogor

A gas cylinder leak resulted in three people suffering severe burn injuries, with burns ranging from 30 to 80 per cent, in central Bogor, Bogor City. The three victims are members of one family consisting of a husband, wife, and their seven-year-old daughter.

“Confirmed. Three victims suffered burn injuries and all three are currently being treated at Bogor City General Hospital,” said Bogor Tengah Police Chief Kompol Waluyo when asked for confirmation on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

The three victims have been identified as MN (62), his wife HE (42), and their daughter PR (7). All three suffered burn injuries ranging from 30 to 80 per cent.

“The injury breakdown is as follows: MN suffered 80 per cent burns, HE suffered 50 per cent burns, and PR suffered 50 per cent burns. They are currently being treated at Bogor City General Hospital,” said Waluyo.

The incident was reported to have occurred when HE was preparing to cook at approximately 10.00 WIB. At the time of the incident, all three victims were gathered and conversing in the living room of their rented house.

“The homeowner was about to cook when a three-kilogramme gas cylinder suddenly leaked. The family was gathered together in the living room when flames suddenly engulfed all three victims,” said Sumardi, Head of Operations at Bogor City Tagana, when contacted separately.

“The victims were immediately taken to Bogor City General Hospital for medical treatment,” he added.
