The local government is collaborating with Garut Police to provide services to the community through the free return transport programme for Eid 2026. The return journey activity took place on Saturday (28/3) at Terminal Guntur Melati, Garut Regency.

The programme received an enthusiastic welcome from the public intending to return to their places of work after celebrating Eid in their hometowns. However, the free return transport used six buses prepared to carry the returnees to destinations in Jakarta, Bekasi, and Bogor, which were officially departed.

Garut Police Chief AKBP Yugi Bayu Hendarto stated that this free return transport programme is a form of care for the community as well as an effort to reduce the density of the return flow and increase passenger safety. However, the programme is carried out in collaboration with the Garut Regency government.

“Through this programme, we hope that the public can return to their places of activity safely, comfortably, without being burdened by transportation costs. Because, all participants returning to Jakarta, Bekasi, and Bogor are free of charge without any fees,” he said on Saturday (28/3/2026).

According to him, the return journey carried out by Garut Police together with the local government departs to three destinations considering they originate from Jakarta, Bekasi, and Bogor. However, the departing returnees are migrants who have celebrated Eid in their hometowns until they return again.

“The free return transport programme becomes part of joint efforts to create a conducive public order and security situation during the Eid return flow and to strengthen synergy between the Garut Regional Government and Garut Police in serving the community,” he concluded. (H-2)
