Garuda Spark Innovation Hub focused on supporting government priority programmes
Tangerang Regency (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi) has stated that the Garuda Spark Innovation Hub (GSIH) is directed towards supporting various government priority programmes through the development of digital innovation in the regions.
Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid said each hub will have a different focus, in line with the potential of each region and aligned with government programmes.
“Basically, each hub is also focused on programmes that are in line with the government programmes under the administration of President Prabowo Subianto,” Meutya said in Tangerang Regency on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the hub in Medan will be directed towards technological innovation in the food sector. The hub in Yogyakarta will focus on education, including cooperation with universities such as Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM).
“Other hubs will also have their own focus according to the government’s priority programmes,” she said.
She noted that by 2030, around 68 percent of Indonesia’s population is expected to be in the productive age group of 15-64 years. This condition is seen as both an opportunity and a challenge that needs to be well prepared for.
“Of course, we want this to become Indonesia’s strength by filling the spaces so that young people are involved in the digital transformation in the country,” Meutya said.
In addition, Indonesian technology companies are also encouraged to build more balanced partnerships with global technology companies.
“Ultimately, we also hope to make our competitiveness equal at the global level. Our startups are valued at the global level, our talents are on par with and as high as talents abroad,” she said.
Meutya said GSIH serves as a shared workspace for talent, startups, academics, and central and regional governments to accelerate national digital transformation.
GSIH uses a Hub and Spoke concept. Ten hubs are located in Jakarta, Batam, Medan, Bandung, Malang, Makassar, Papua, Yogyakarta, Aceh, and Surabaya.
