Garuda, Silk Air sign deal
JAKARTA (JP): The Garuda Maintenance Facility, owned by Indonesia's flag carrier Garuda Indonesia, has agreed to help maintain Silk Air's B-737 aircraft flying to Jakarta, Ujungpandang and Manado.
According to an agreement signed on Saturday, the facility's services will include transit and night-stop checks on the Singaporean company's aircraft which stop over at Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta airport, Manado's Sam Ratulangi airport in North Sulawesi, and Ujungpandang's Hasanuddin airport in South Sulawesi.
The services were previously conducted by Singapore Airlines technicians.
The agreement was signed by the head of Garuda's maintenance division, M. Supriyadi, and the manager of Silk Air Indonesia, Daniel Tan.
Silk Air presently flies 26 times a week to Indonesia, of which 21 land in Jakarta, two in Manado and three in Ujungpandang.
Garuda's maintenance services meet the airworthiness standards of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore for overhauling, reparation, modification and testing of certain aircraft engines manufactured by General Electric and Garrett. (pwn)
