The government, through the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek), has set a long-term direction to ensure Indonesian talent is able to compete and become key players in the global market through the Garuda School.

Director of Transformative Learning Strategy and Systems at Kemdiktisaintek, Ardi Findyartini, said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday that Indonesia’s future is built not only on the wealth of natural resources, but also on the strength of human resources, creativity, knowledge, science, and technology.

“Higher education is not only a place to gain knowledge, but a space to develop talent, produce research, give birth to innovation, develop technology, and encourage the downstreaming of research results into solutions and added value for society,” she said.

Titin, as she is familiarly known, emphasised that universities are the main foundation where researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs, and creative talent are born, who will become the drivers of Indonesia’s economy in the future.

Therefore, she said, building the creative economy is essentially about building its people.

She affirmed that it is these talents who will grow, collaborate, conduct research, create innovations, and produce works that are able to answer society’s needs while penetrating the global market.

“From talent, ideas are born; from education, competence grows; from research, innovation is born; from creativity, works are created; and from those works, impact emerges,” she said.

She explained that the spirit of Diktisaintek Berdampak aims to connect all elements of education, science, technology, research, innovation, and talent to deliver real benefits to society while strengthening the nation’s competitiveness on the international stage.

Indonesia, she said, must have a new paradigm in the global economy, not merely as a target market for foreign products.

“Indonesia is not enough just to be a market. Indonesia must be a nation that creates, innovates, and becomes a key player in the global market,” Ardi Findyartini concluded.
