Garuda retains title as world's most punctual airline
Deputy President Director Thomas Oentoro said on Tuesday the result reflected improving operational reliability as the airline pushed ahead with its broader performance transformation strategy.
The April ranking extended Garuda’s lead after the carrier also posted a 97.9 percent on-time performance score in March, maintaining the top global position in OAG’s monthly rankings.
Garuda remains the only Asia-Pacific airline to secure the highest global punctuality ranking from the British aviation analytics company OAG.
Oentoro said punctuality had become a key benchmark in strengthening customer confidence and improving service consistency amid increasingly competitive industry conditions.
He attributed the performance to tighter operational discipline, improved fleet readiness, optimized aircraft rotation and stronger coordination across operational units.
The achievement also reflected collective efforts by employees across the Garuda Indonesia Group to maintain operational standards despite persistent challenges facing the global airline industry, he added.
“We will continue maintaining this momentum as part of our transition toward a stronger and more sustainable turnaround phase,” Oentoro said.
Under OAG FlightView methodology, on-time performance is measured based on actual aircraft arrival times at gates compared with scheduled arrival times.
The ranking also factors in all operated flights, with airlines required to meet at least 80 percent scheduled-flight data coverage and minimum operational thresholds to qualify for global rankings.
