Garuda Pioneer Bridge Becomes New Access Route for Central Aceh Residents

Post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts in Central Aceh Regency, Aceh, continue to show progress. One of the steps now being accelerated is the construction of the Garuda Pioneer Bridge in Linge District as a permanent solution to restore public transport access that was severed due to a hydrometeorological disaster. Previously, the disaster cut off the connecting route between Reje Payung Village and Jamat Village, hampering various community activities. Children faced difficulties getting to school, farmers struggled to access agricultural land, and the mobility of residents to meet their economic needs was also disrupted. During the emergency response period, soldiers from Kodim 0106/Central Aceh together with Yonif TP personnel, volunteers, and the community worked together to build a temporary bridge so that residents’ activities could continue. However, the high river flow during the rainy season caused the emergency bridge to be washed away several times, necessitating safer and more sustainable infrastructure. Responding to this need, construction of the Garuda Pioneer Bridge began in April 2026. The project involves personnel from Kodim 0106/Central Aceh, Koramil ranks, 25 Yonif TP soldiers, technical staff from Zidam, and support from the local community as a form of collaboration to accelerate post-disaster recovery. Danramil 05 Kodim 0106/Central Aceh, First Lieutenant Infantry Mukhlis, said the bridge construction is progressing according to target. ‘We are currently carrying out the construction of the Garuda Pioneer Bridge. Progress has reached 53 per cent and we are striving to complete it within approximately the next 10 days, specifically by 15 July,’ said Mukhlis in a statement on Sunday (5/7/2026). According to him, the presence of the bridge is expected to restore the smooth mobility of the community while supporting various important activities, ranging from access to education, distribution of agricultural products, to the economic movement of residents in Linge District. The more robust infrastructure is also expected to reduce the risk of disruption to community activities when extreme weather occurs again. The construction of the Garuda Pioneer Bridge is part of post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts that not only focus on infrastructure development but also on restoring the quality of life of the community through the provision of safer, more reliable, and sustainable access.
