Garuda, PAL sign agreement

MANILA (Dow Jones): Philippine Airlines Inc. and Garuda Indonesia have entered a code-sharing agreement on flights between Manila and Jakarta, with PAL as the operating carrier.

In a statement, PAL said the agreement gives Garuda a seat allocation on each of its four weekly flights on the Manila- Jakarta run. The code sharing starts March 25.

"The deal strengthens PAL's partnership with Garuda and provides the Philippine flag carrier access to the tourist traffic to Indonesia," PAL said.

The Garuda pact is PAL's first code-sharing agreement in which it is the operational carrier since entering a rehabilitation plan two years. This is "an indication of PAL's improved operational condition," the statement said.
