Garuda Merah Putih Pioneer Bridge Inaugurated in Majalengka

The Garuda Merah Putih Pioneer Bridge in Blok Ciranca, Talaga Kulon Village, Talaga District, Majalengka, West Java, was inaugurated on Thursday. The ceremony was attended by Majalengka Regent Eman Suherman alongside the Commander of Military District 0617/Majalengka, Lieutenant Colonel Inf. Rendra Dwi Jayanto. The bridge serves as a vital crossing connecting Campaga Village (Blok Cilengsar) and Talaga Kulon Village (Blok Ciranca).

Lieutenant Colonel Inf. Rendra Dwi Jayanto explained that the construction of the approximately 26-metre bridge stemmed from residents’ reports about the damaged local access road. His office immediately coordinated and reported the condition to the Majalengka Regent and the Army Headquarters so that repairs could be carried out promptly.

"This bridge is very vital for schoolchildren and traffic," Rendra stated in Majalengka on Thursday. He praised the strong spirit of mutual cooperation and solidarity among local residents who worked shoulder-to-shoulder with TNI soldiers during the construction process, enabling the project to be completed within one month. "We urge that this bridge be maintained and looked after together so that its benefits are long-lasting and durable for residents’ connectivity," Rendra appealed.

Meanwhile, Majalengka Regent Eman Suherman appreciated the swift response of the Military District Commander amidst regional budget limitations. He noted that the regional budget had been streamlined from Rp3.5 trillion to Rp2.9 trillion. "We must keep moving to meet residents’ infrastructure needs. The key lies in active collaboration, such as the Commander’s quick action in securing central government programmes and responding rapidly to community needs," Eman said.

With this bridge, residents can now cover shorter distances and save time when travelling to activity centres like Pasar Talaga. Looking ahead, the Majalengka Regency Government is also open to developing connecting roads spanning 500 metres to 1.5 kilometres to link villages, pending agreement on land acquisition from residents.

Talaga Sub-district Head Agus Heriyanto expressed his utmost gratitude and appreciation to the Majalengka Regency Government and the Indonesian Army for realising the bridge’s construction. "We are very grateful and appreciate the swift action of the Regent and the Military District Commander. This bridge has long been dreamed of by the communities in these two villages. The presence of this infrastructure is a breath of fresh air for the smooth daily mobility and economy of residents in Talaga District," Agus said.
