Jakarta (ANTARA) - Garuda Indonesia has ensured that the continuity of its flight services remains intact in accordance with the implementation of regulations adjusting additional cost components (fuel surcharge) and the government’s Value Added Tax (VAT) stimulus to maintain the stability of the national aviation industry.

Garuda Indonesia’s President Director, Glenny Kairupan, stated in Jakarta on Wednesday that this measure responds to the dynamics of the global aviation industry, influenced by geopolitical uncertainties and fluctuations in fuel prices, including avtur.

The airline has assured that flight services will continue seamlessly alongside the government’s policy support through KM 83 of 2026 regarding the adjustment of additional cost components (fuel surcharge) on domestic economy class passenger fares, as well as the planned VAT stimulus of 11 per cent borne by the government.

“This policy is a strategic step in maintaining the balance between the airline’s operational sustainability and the accessibility of air transportation services for the public, while supporting the stability of the national aviation industry ecosystem,” said Glenny.

“Evaluations will be conducted periodically in line with the dynamic movements in avtur prices,” he added.

Amid ongoing industry pressures, the company is also preparing mitigation measures through reviews to optimise flight frequencies and schedules on several routes, as part of efforts to maintain capacity productivity and operational continuity.

Looking ahead, Garuda Indonesia will continue to monitor geopolitical developments and global aviation industry dynamics, ensuring that every adjustment is made adaptively to balance business sustainability and service accessibility for all segments of society.

“As part of the strategic mandate to support national connectivity for the nation’s interests,” said Glenny.
