Garuda Indonesia revamps services

JAKARTA (JP): National flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has increased overseas and domestic flight routes and changed several jets serving international routes.

Garuda said yesterday it had increased flights to London from two to three times a week, flights to Seoul from four to five times a week and to Hong Kong from 15 to 17 times a week.

The increased domestic flights were Jakarta to Ampenan via Yogyakarta (from three to six times a week) and Jakarta to Semarang (from three to four times a week).

Starting in late March, flights to London became Jakarta-Batam-Amman-London (every Tuesday), Denpasar-Jakarta- Amman-London (every Friday), Denpasar-Jakarta-Bangkok-London (every Sunday).

The services to Seoul are Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays (Denpasar-Jakarta-Seoul). Flights from Seoul to Denpasar via Jakarta are every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.

Garuda has also changed several jets. Instead of operating Boeing B-747-200s for European services, Garuda now uses B-747- 400s and MD-11s.

Other changes include B-747-200s and Airbus A-330-300s for routes to Japan, B-737-400s to Manila and B-737-300s or B-737- 400s to Kuala Lumpur.

Garuda said its sales office in the BDN building on Jl. Thamrin, Central Jakarta, had been moved to the second floor of the company's headquarters. (icn)
