Jakarta – The national carrier Garuda Indonesia has successfully maintained the world’s most punctual airline title according to OAG FlightView for the April 2026 period, achieving an On-Time Performance (OTP) of 97.9 percent from a total of 5,947 flights served.

“This achievement is a strong indicator of our ongoing efforts to improve operational reliability and is beginning to show tangible results,” said Garuda Indonesia’s Deputy President Director Thomas Oentoro in a statement from Jakarta on Tuesday.

“Through this time-keeping ranking, Garuda Indonesia once again becomes the sole airline from the Asia-Pacific region to secure a top-tier position by the independent UK-based research and ranking body for airline OTP.”

That achievement complements the punctuality record Garuda Indonesia had achieved; in March 2026 the company also recorded the best OTP globally according to OAG, with an OTP of 97.9 percent.

“Punctuality is a crucial element in building customer trust, and we are committed to making it a consistent service standard we deliver,” said Thomas.

He added that the achievement is inseparable from strengthened operational discipline across all lines, from optimising fleet readiness, optimising aircraft rotations, to improving cross-functional coordination to support smooth flight operations.

He noted that this is the result of the collective work of all Garuda Indonesia Group personnel who continue to uphold the operational standard with discipline, even amidst challenging industry dynamics.

Under the methodology used by OAG FlightView, the OTP calculation is based on the actual arrival time of aircraft at the gate compared with the scheduled time.

Additionally, the data accounts for all flights operated, with data coverage of at least 80 percent of total scheduled flights and the minimum operational threshold required to enter the global rankings.
